Texas Hold'em Poker

  • Players will draw a single card to determine first dealer - high card deals.
  • The game begins with two players, left of the dealer, placing an initial bet. This is called posting the blinds. The first player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind and the next player posts the big blind. The small blind bet is equal to half the minimum bet and the big blind is equal to the full minimum bet.
  • Each player is then dealt two cards face down. These are called your hold or pocket cards.
  • Betting starts with the player to the left of the blind bets and continues clockwise around the table. Players may bet, check, raise, or fold in turn. The big blind has the last bet and can check or raise.
  • Three community cards are dealt (flopped) face up to the middle of the table.
  • A second betting round takes place starting with the first active player to the left of the dealer.
  • A fourth community card is dealt face up. This is called the turn card, it is followed by another round of betting.
  • A fifth and final community card is dealt face up. This is the river card, and is followed by another round of betting.\
  • Players remaining in the hand will then show their cards and the winning poker hand will be awarded the pot. Any combination of hole cards and community cards may be used to make the best five-card poker hand.
  • The deal is passed clockwise around the table as play continues.

More Legal Mumbo Jumbo

State statues define gambling as having three distinct characteristics: Prize, Chance, and Consideration. If any of these three characteristics are missing, the contract is within the law. Poker, by law, is considered to be a game of “chance.” “Prize” – we have lots of them! "'Consideration' means anything which is a commercial or financial advantage to the promoter or the disadvantage to any participant.”

This means we cannot charge a fee for players to play. There is no “buy-in.” We cannot require players to make a purchase from the host location. Chips used in our tournament have no financial value. Be sure to read our regulations. Each player must sign a sheet stating they understand these regulations. Our regulations are also posted at each event.

Just One More Brew & Cue is committed to running our tournaments within the Missouri state laws. It is our policy to notify local County Attorneys of our contests wherever Hold'em Poker Unlimited is played.
